The Russian online fishing equipment store Rybak96 suffered a significant data breach in March 2023. An unauthorized actor gained access to the customer database and leaked it publicly. The incident compromised approximately 208 thousand records containing sensitive user information. The exposed database included customer full names, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical delivery addresses. Additionally, user passwords were leaked in MD5 hash format, which is considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking via brute force or rainbow table attacks.
