In February 2022 the Vietnamese social commerce platform Selly.vn experienced a data security incident that resulted in the exposure of sensitive user information. The breach compromised the personal data of approximately 331 thousand registered users. The leaked dataset contained full names, contact email addresses, and mobile phone numbers. This incident highlights vulnerabilities in emerging e-commerce platforms within the Southeast Asian market where rapid growth often outpaces security implementations. The data was discovered being circulated on underground forums and was later indexed by major breach notification services.
