A data breach involving the Semarangkab government portal in Indonesia was reported in August 2024. The incident exposed sensitive personal information belonging to approximately 18 thousand public servants and citizens. The leaked data includes full names, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses. More critically, identification details such as passport numbers and Tax Identification Numbers known as TIN or NPWP were compromised. This exposure poses a significant risk of identity theft and targeted phishing attacks against government employees and residents of the Semarang Regency.
