About this leak
In September 2020 the web development software company Sencha suffered a significant data breach. An unauthorized party managed to compromise their systems resulting in the exposure of a database containing approximately 850000 user records. The leaked information included sensitive personal details and technical data such as names and IP addresses. Most critically the breach included passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes which are considered cryptographically weak by modern standards. The incident highlighted vulnerabilities in legacy hashing algorithms used for user authentication.
