In July 2018 the social bookmarking service ShareThis suffered a massive data breach that was later sold on dark web marketplaces. The incident involved the exposure of millions of user records including unique email addresses and hashed passwords. The breach was part of a larger wave of attacks targeting multiple high profile websites during that period exposing sensitive user credentials and personal details across the platform.
