ShopIt.to suffered a significant data breach in early 2011 where approximately 1.5 million user records were exposed. The incident involved the compromise of personal information and salted MD5 password hashes. The breach was widely reported across security forums and was eventually added to major breach notification services. The leak included sensitive account details such as user identifiers and login credentials which posed a risk of credential stuffing attacks on other platforms where users might have reused their passwords.
