The Siberian Troika transport reservation service based in Russia suffered a data breach in November 2022. Threat actors compromised the system and published a database containing personal information of approximately 16000 users. The leaked data includes customer names, phone numbers, dates of birth, and passwords stored as MD5 hashes. A limited number of email addresses were also exposed as part of the dump. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in legacy hashing algorithms like MD5 which are susceptible to cracking.
