In April 2024 the Russian website review and discussion platform Sites.Reviews suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of approximately 340000 user records. The leaked database contained sensitive personal information including email addresses and full names alongside technical data such as IP addresses. Security analysis revealed that user passwords were stored using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm which is highly susceptible to cracking. The data appeared on public forums and Telegram channels specialized in database leaks making the information accessible to malicious actors for potential phishing or credential stuffing attacks.
