In October 2022 the Russian forum Slivup which focuses on the exchange of private courses for earnings and business experienced a significant security incident. An unauthorized party gained access to the user database resulting in the public exposure of sensitive information. The leak affected approximately 124 thousand registered members. The compromised data included user email addresses full names platform nicknames and IP addresses. Additionally passwords were leaked in the form of MD5 hashes with salt which poses a risk of cracking through brute force methods. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in legacy forum software and the risks associated with storing user credentials without modern cryptographic standards.
