In early June 2022 hackers successfully breached the Ukrainian State Portal known as The Infrastructure Development Agency for the Ukrainian Stock Market or Smida. The threat actors published a database containing approximately 330000 user records. The compromised data includes personal identifiers such as names and nicknames along with contact details and job positions. Security analysis revealed that passwords were stored as Argon2 hashes or unsalted MD5 hashes making them vulnerable to cracking attempts. This incident represents a significant exposure of government related financial infrastructure data in Ukraine during a period of heightened cyber activity.
