Snail

In March 2015 the Chinese gaming company Snail Games suffered a significant data breach affecting its online platform. Approximately 1.4 million subscriber records were compromised and subsequently leaked online. The incident involved the exposure of sensitive user credentials and technical identifiers. The breach occurred due to vulnerabilities in the systems of the gaming provider which at the time was expanding its presence in the international market. The leaked database contained plain text identifiers and passwords secured with weak MD5 hashing algorithms without salt making them highly susceptible to decryption and unauthorized access to player accounts.
