In late 2022 a significant data leak occurred at SportMarafon a prominent Russian retailer specializing in outdoor and ski equipment. The incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of a database containing personal details of approximately 287000 customers. The compromised data included sensitive personal identifiers such as full names email addresses and mobile phone numbers along with physical residential addresses and dates of birth. The breach appears to be part of a series of attacks targeting Russian retail platforms where internal databases were exfiltrated and subsequently shared on dark web forums and telegram channels.
