The Russian sports retail giant Sportmaster suffered a massive data breach in early January 2023. The incident was linked to the NLB hacking group which leaked a significant portion of the customer database. The breach exposed personal details of millions of clients including names, contact information, and demographic data. While the initial leak contained approximately 100 million records, threat actors claimed the complete database consists of over 400 million rows. The data was likely obtained through an unauthorized intrusion into the company backend systems or a misconfigured database.
