In May 2015 the Russian social networking and anonymous question platform Sprashivai.ru suffered a major data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of approximately 6.7 million user records. The leaked database contained sensitive personal information including email addresses, usernames, and dates of birth. The breach was significant because the platform was designed for anonymous interactions, yet the compromise of backend data allowed for the potential identification of users who expected privacy. The data was subsequently circulated in the darknet and security forums.
