StarNet

In February 2015 the prominent Moldavian Internet Service Provider StarNet experienced a severe security breach when its internal servers were compromised by hackers. The attackers managed to gain unauthorized access to the customer database and subsequently published sensitive information online. This incident affected approximately 140 thousand clients and the leaked data contained a wide range of personal details including full names and specific identification documents. The breach raised significant concerns regarding the security infrastructure of telecommunication companies in the region.
