StockX

In July 2019 the online marketplace StockX suffered a major data breach involving approximately 6.8 million user records. The incident occurred after an unauthorized party gained access to the companys customer database. The stolen data was subsequently listed for sale on darknet marketplaces for approximately 300 dollars. The breach compromised sensitive user information including names and hashed passwords. Following the discovery StockX prompted a system wide password reset for all users to mitigate further unauthorized access and security risks.
