StoryBird

In August 2015 the creative storytelling platform Storybird suffered a data breach that exposed information from approximately 4 million records. The incident resulted in the compromise of 1.1 million unique email addresses along with usernames and salted PBKDF2 password hashes. The breach allowed unauthorized access to user profile data and credentials which were later circulated in the data hoarding community. Storybird provides a platform for writers and artists to create visual stories and the exposed data posed a risk to users who reused passwords across other digital services.
