About this leak
In early 2015 the prominent Swedish technology and hardware news website SweClockers suffered a significant security breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the forum database resulting in the exposure of approximately 255000 user accounts. The compromised data included sensitive information such as usernames and email addresses. Most critically the breach involved hashed passwords protected by a combination of MD5 and SHA512 algorithms with salt. The incident highlighted vulnerabilities in legacy hashing methods and forced the platform to implement password resets for its entire community to mitigate the risk of account takeovers.
