Swvl

In June 2020 the Egyptian transportation startup Swvl experienced a significant security breach affecting millions of its customers. The incident involved unauthorized access to the company database which contained sensitive user information. Swvl confirmed that the breach was due to an unauthorized access to their system and subsequent data extraction. The leaked database included personal identifiers and security credentials of over 4 million users which were later shared within the hacking community. The company responded by logging out all users and initiating a password reset protocol to mitigate further risks.
