Taklope

In January 2022 the French electronic cigarette and vape retailer Taklope suffered a significant data breach. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of a customer database containing personal information. The breach compromised sensitive user details including full names and email addresses. Furthermore the security of user accounts was undermined as passwords were stored using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm with a static salt making them vulnerable to cracking attempts. The leak impacted approximately 269 thousand customers who had registered on the platform.
