In November 2018 the Technic platform specializing in Minecraft modpacks suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of sensitive user information including email addresses and IP addresses for over 265 thousand unique members. Furthermore the breach compromised private communications such as chat logs and personal messages along with user passwords stored as bcrypt hashes with a work factor of 13. The platform confirmed the security incident shortly after it occurred and advised users to change their credentials to prevent unauthorized account access.
