In March 2022 the Russian service Text.ru specializing in text uniqueness analysis and copywriting suffered a significant security breach. A threat actor known as Neuron leaked a database containing information of approximately 3.5 million users. The breach resulted from unauthorized access to the platform infrastructure. The exposed data includes email addresses, full names, IP addresses, user balance levels, and passwords stored as MD5 hashes without salt. Following the discovery of the incident the company mandated a password reset for its entire user base to mitigate further unauthorized access.
