Trillian

In December 2015 the Trillian instant messaging service suffered a significant data breach affecting approximately 3.8 million users. Although the incident occurred in late 2015 it only became publicly known in July 2016. The compromised data included usernames email addresses and passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salt. While the full database was reportedly traded in the underground market a smaller subset containing around 79000 records was more widely circulated. The breach was attributed to unauthorized access to the service infrastructure allowing attackers to export user profile information.
