In August 2024 the Russian classifieds and charity platform Ubu.ru experienced a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of user information. The incident involved the unauthorized access and subsequent leak of a database containing approximately 770 thousand records. This breach follows a previous smaller security event in 2021 but is much more extensive in scale. The leaked data includes sensitive personal details such as contact information and tax identification numbers which poses a risk for targeted phishing and social engineering attacks against the affected users.
