In November 2017 the official UFC Fight Club forums experienced a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 239 thousand members. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the forum database where user credentials and technical metadata were stored. Security researchers identified that the leaked records contained sensitive details including account usernames and technical identifiers. The breach was particularly concerning because passwords were protected using the MD5 hashing algorithm which is considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to rapid cracking by malicious actors.
