In January 2021 the UKScrappers forum experienced a significant data breach affecting over 50 thousand registered members. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of the community database. Exposed records included sensitive user information such as email addresses and usernames. Additionally the leak contained technical data including IP addresses and passwords secured using the vBulletin hashing algorithm which is considered vulnerable to modern cracking techniques. The breach highlights risks associated with legacy forum software and community driven platforms where security updates may not be consistently applied.
