In early 2016 the popular Islamic community forum Ummah.com suffered a significant data breach. The incident involved the compromise of the vBulletin forum software which allowed attackers to access the underlying database. The leak exposed sensitive user information including email addresses and hashed passwords. This breach was part of a larger series of forum hacks during that period where legacy software vulnerabilities were exploited to scrape large amounts of user data for credential stuffing and spam campaigns.
