In December 2019 the gaming platform Unigame suffered a significant data breach when its database was compromised. The incident resulted in the exposure of sensitive user information for approximately 851 thousand individuals. The leaked data included email addresses and passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salts. This security failure exposed players to potential credential stuffing and account takeover attacks especially since the platform is now defunct making it harder for users to secure their old accounts.
