About this leak
In late March 2019 the Russian airline UTair experienced a significant data breach when an internal database was exposed on the internet without password protection. The incident resulted in the compromise of personal information belonging to approximately 519000 passengers. The exposed data included full names of customers alongside their contact details and physical addresses. Security researchers discovered the open MongoDB database which allowed unauthorized access to sensitive traveler records for a period of time before it was secured by the company technical team.
