In September 2016 the Chinese gaming platform Uuu9 experienced a significant security breach that resulted in the exposure of approximately 7.5 million user records. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of a database containing sensitive information about its community members. The leaked data included email addresses associated with user accounts as well as nicknames and passwords stored in a hashed format. This breach highlighted vulnerabilities in the security infrastructure of large scale gaming portals during that period and posed risks to users who reused credentials across multiple services.
