Vedantu

In mid-2019 the Indian interactive online learning platform Vedantu suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 687000 users. The incident involved the exposure of a database in JSON format which contained sensitive details. The leaked data included user names email addresses phone numbers IP addresses gender information and passwords stored as bcrypt hashes. This breach allowed unauthorized access to user profiles and posed significant security risks to the platform students and educators by exposing private contact details and hashed credentials.
