In January 2014 the long standing cybercrime forum Verified was compromised by unknown actors. This breach resulted in the disclosure of nearly 17,000 registered accounts. The leaked database contained highly sensitive information including registration details and thousands of private messages exchanged between members. This incident was significant as it exposed the inner workings and identities of one of the oldest Eastern European underground communities used for illicit activities and financial fraud discussions.
