In early June 2024 the Russian information portal Vertex-Club experienced a significant data breach following a targeted cyber attack. An unauthorized actor managed to compromise the website database and subsequently leaked the information on underground forums. The breach exposed sensitive details of approximately 117 thousand registered users including personal contact information and security credentials. The incident highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in regional news platforms and the risk of credential stuffing attacks due to the presence of hashed passwords in the dump.
