In June 2022 a significant data breach occurred at VezetVsem a prominent Russian freight and transportation marketplace. A database containing 1.6 million records was leaked and published online. The incident involved the exposure of sensitive user information including names and contact details. Security analysis confirmed that the leaked data included passwords stored as MD5CRYPT hashes which are vulnerable to cracking. The breach likely resulted from an unauthorized access to the company backend database or an improperly secured storage instance exposing the entire customer base to potential phishing and credential stuffing attacks.
