VipHackForums

In December 2014 the hacker community forum known as VipHackForums suffered a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of its user database. The incident impacted approximately 35000 registered members. The leaked data contained sensitive information including usernames and email addresses along with IP addresses used for access. Furthermore the breach exposed passwords that were stored using the MD5 hashing algorithm which is considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking by modern standards. This event highlighted the vulnerability of underground forums to the same types of attacks they often discuss.
