In March 2022 the Colombian airline Viva Air suffered a significant data breach following an attack by the Mount ransomware group. The incident involved the exposure of sensitive database records containing approximately 2.6 million transaction logs. The compromised data included personal identifying information of passengers and internal records. Forensic analysis revealed that the hackers gained unauthorized access to the company servers and exfiltrated databases before the airline eventually ceased operations in 2023.
