VTB

In May 2022 a database allegedly belonging to users of the Russian bank VTB was exposed. The leak consisted of a large collection of phone numbers totaling over 17 million records with approximately 9 million being unique. While the bank officially denied a direct breach of its internal systems claiming the data was aggregated from third party services or public sources the scale of the incident caused significant concern regarding user privacy and potential phishing campaigns targeting bank clients.
