Wakanim

In August 2022 the European anime streaming service Wakanim suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the unauthorized acquisition of approximately 6.7 million customer records. The compromised data was subsequently posted for sale on a popular underground hacking forum. Investigation into the leak revealed that attackers managed to extract sensitive personal details from the platform database including email addresses and geographic information. The breach affected users across multiple European regions where the service operated before its eventual consolidation into Crunchyroll.
