In February 2020 the Danish cybersecurity news and monitoring service WatchMen.dk suffered a data breach. The incident involved an unauthorized access to their database which resulted in the exposure of user information. The leak originated from a misconfiguration or vulnerability in the platform infrastructure allowing threat actors to scrape or export sensitive user records. Although the service was dedicated to security monitoring the breach compromised the trust of its professional user base consisting of security researchers and IT specialists.
