In approximately July 2012 the popular web hosting forum WebHostingTalk experienced a significant security breach. An attacker managed to exploit a vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to the database. The compromise resulted in the exposure of sensitive user account information including registered email addresses and salted MD5 password hashes.
