In early 2022 the South Korean video game developer and publisher Webzen experienced a security breach affecting its official gaming forums. Unauthorized access led to the exposure of sensitive user information for over 208 thousand accounts. The incident involved the extraction of personal identifiers and authentication data. Research indicates that the breach likely occurred due to vulnerabilities within the forum software which allowed attackers to dump the database containing member credentials and activity logs.
