In January 2021 the Indian wedding planning platform WedMeGood experienced a significant security incident resulting in the exposure of approximately 1.3 million user records. The breach involved an unauthorized access to their database which led to the distribution of 41.5 GB of internal information. The compromised data included sensitive personal details of customers such as their full names email addresses physical addresses phone numbers gender and hashed passwords. This incident highlights vulnerabilities in consumer facing digital platforms within the event planning industry especially concerning the storage of personally identifiable information.
