Wefoster.co experienced a significant data exposure incident involving its managed WordPress hosting platform for online communities. The breach occurred due to a misconfigured database that was left accessible on the public internet without password protection. The exposed data contained sensitive user information including account details and system metadata. Security researchers discovered the open instance which allowed anyone with the IP address to view and download the entire dataset. Wefoster has since merged with BuddyBoss and the legacy infrastructure was phased out after the incident was identified and addressed.
