In March 2018 the Wendys quick service restaurant chain in the Philippines suffered a significant data breach affecting over 52000 individuals including both customers and job applicants. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the company database resulting in the exposure of sensitive personal details. The leaked information contained full names, contact details, and MD5 hashed passwords. The National Privacy Commission of the Philippines ordered the temporary shutdown of the website to prevent further risks after the data was published on a public server.
