Wongnai

In October 2020 a significant data breach affecting the Thai restaurant and lifestyle platform Wongnai was identified. The incident was part of a larger collection of 17 previously unknown database leaks offered for sale on darknet marketplaces by a threat actor. The breach exposed details for approximately 4 million unique users. The compromised data included email addresses, full names, phone numbers, social media profile links, and passwords stored as MD5 hashes. This leak highlights the security risks associated with older hashing algorithms and the targeting of regional lifestyle services.
