XHamster

In November 2016 reports emerged regarding a significant data breach involving the adult entertainment platform xHamster. A database containing approximately 380000 user accounts was discovered being traded on the dark web. The exposed information included sensitive user credentials such as email addresses and usernames. Critically the passwords were stored as MD5 hashes without salt making them highly vulnerable to decryption through brute force or rainbow table attacks. The incident highlighted significant security lapses in how the site handled user authentication data at the time.
