In 2020 the Russian local business directory and yellow pages website Yell.ru was targeted by automated scraping tools. This parsing incident resulted in the collection of approximately 1.6 million records from the platform database. The data set primarily focuses on business entities and their associated contact details. Information exposed includes business phone numbers company names physical addresses and detailed business descriptions. In several instances the names of company owners or representatives were also extracted during the process highlighting risks associated with bulk data harvesting from public facing directories.
