In May 2022 the Russian information portal Ykt.ru suffered a significant data breach that was subsequently leaked into the public domain. The incident exposed a comprehensive database containing personal information of registered users. The breach occurred as the portal was preparing to shut down its social networking and community features. The leaked files contained sensitive details including hashed passwords and contact information. This exposure posed a high risk for identity theft and credential stuffing attacks against the local population in the Yakutia region.
