In June 2025 an extensive dataset containing approximately 4 billion comments was extracted from the YouTube video hosting platform via automated parsing techniques. The incident involved the systematic collection of user interactions to extract sensitive identifiers. The resulting database includes a massive compilation of electronic mail addresses, telephone numbers, external links, and hashtags found within public comments, making this information searchable for third parties and potentially exposing users to phishing or targeted spam campaigns.
