In December 2022 Zacks Investment Research suffered a significant data breach that was later fully exposed in June 2023 when a database was posted on a popular hacking forum. The incident occurred due to unauthorized access to a database containing sensitive customer information. The leak impacted approximately 8.8 million users and included several personal identifiers alongside encrypted security credentials. Zacks initially notified a smaller group of customers but the subsequent public release revealed a much larger scale of the compromise covering a vast portion of their user base.
